Songs with a Meaning

Tired of the same old feeling that somehow things in our country or in the world are so messed up? Easily you can rock off the sorrow and anger with the help of a guitar, a base and a drumstick. Its rock, its punk, its metal, its hip-hop and it’s here to blow off your tired and disgusted minds and souls.

Just like in the Cansei de Ser Sexy song from 2007 that declares “music is my boyfriend” I feel that music has a huge impact on our lives; for some of us it’s almost like having a relationship with someone. So, let’s take a look to some really good songs that were inspired by different political, economical and social problems that still affect our society to this day.

*Bonus Track: Feminist Politics lyrics by Le Butcherettes

Hope you enjoyed the protest music I selected this time. Feel free to post YOUR OWN contributions.

  3. Nice playlist, I'm glad that I could recognize and remember most of those songs you mentioned...

Music is, indeed, an important part of each personality, music expresses ideas that are not just part of certain ideas of some compositors, it is true that some songs like the ones you listed before, go way beyond the classic schemes of inspiration, in these cases music may reach a status of protest and liberation of the "rebel spirit" that lies within us...

  5. Gee… You call this music? I call it acoustic contamination. It is truth there are terrible injustices in the World and the Mexican government is very corrupted.
The answers lie within you. Start meditating.

  7. Thank you all for taking your time to read and comment this article.

We would like to add that there is no such thing as acoustic contamination in those songs. Even though the musical selection reflects entirely the author’s point of view, those groups have awards and successful careers that are proved by their number of fans and record sales around the world.
